Adjustable Height Saddles (“Saddle Riders”)
Saddle Rider’s adjustable saddles (U.S. Patent #10,629,171 B1) allow players to adjust the amount of string downforce on the bridge without releasing the tension on the strings. This is particularly convenient while traveling between climates, or when adapting an instrument to different styles of playing. If you have ever changed the height of a bridge, you have a sense of how an instrument’s playability changes by adjusting this parameter. But unlike changing bridges, using a Saddle Rider allows this adjustability without altering the playing “action” (i.e. the height of the strings off the fingerboard.)
Double Bass and Cello “Saddle Rider” Endpin Mounts with sizing shims: The design pictured below allows the adjustable saddle extension to be installed or removed without removing the endpin mount. The shims offer a perfect fit in all standard instruments without reaming the endpin hole, while the patent-pending internal nut gives the mount an exceptionally solid fit with quick and easy installation. The endpin mounts can be used with or without the adjustable saddle extension.
Cello “Saddle Rider” as installed on “Bruiser,” John Haines-Eitzen’s cello by Lawrence Wilke:
Our new 16 mm bass model wooden endpin version is ultra-lightweight and uses a bicycle quick release mechanism. Like all our newer models, the adjustable saddle mechanism is removable, and the endpin can be used with or without it.
Our trademark nut gives Saddle Rider Endpin Mounts an exceptionally secure fit: Easy-installation uses a looped string through the endpin hole to hold the nut against the end block.
